How Wolves currently feel about selling £45m star, with PL rivals needing to raise funds - journalist

West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Max Kilman this summer – and Wolves’ stance has now been shared amid the speculation.

Kilman has just finished his first season as Wolves captain, after he assumed the armband after Ruben Neves left the club to join Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

The 27-year-old became skipper and was a hugely important player for Gary O’Neil, who played him every single minute of the 2023/24 campaign. The only game he missed for Wolves last season was the Carabao Cup defeat against Ipswich Town.

Kilman has been established in the Wolves starting XI for a few seasons now.

Last term he was very important again under Julen Lopetegui, and the Spaniard now wants to sign him for West Ham.

Kilman has proven himself as a very good Premier League centre-back over the last couple of seasons at Molineux.

The star is a wonderful passer of the ball and great in the air, and he also has the versatility to play anywhere across the backline.

It is little wonder really that West Ham are keen on him. That said, they are going to potentially have their work cut out if they’re going to sign him.

Journalist Alex Richards has reported today Wolves are not looking to sell right now. He also adds that West Ham currently won’t be able to get near Kilman’s £45 million asking price.

He wrote on X: “Wolves not looking to sell captain Max Kilman but no surprise to see West Ham interest again.

“Long-time admirers, technical director Tim Stiedten rates him & Lopetegui worked with him & is a big fan. Would they be willing to meet Wolves’ high valuation? Need to sell first.”

Kilman sale at £45 million would be decent business

If West Ham somehow come in with an offer of £45 million for Kilman this summer then that would be a good sale for Wolves.

Yes, Kilman is a great defender with some fairly unique qualities. But that would be almost £45 million of pure profit, and he is not someone who would be irreplaceable.

In fact, Wolves have already been linked with someone who could be a very handy replacement in David Carmo.

At the moment, his sale seems a tad unlikely, with West Ham needing to raise funds through player sales.

But it’s a situation to watch, because we know that Lopetegui likes him and may well order a pursuit.
