Report: Wolves could return for 'strong' 13-goal player, previous issue 'can be resolved' now

Wolves could now go back in for a player they looked at in January, with one thing that caused the deal to collapse no longer being an issue.

Wolves are seeking to strengthen ahead of the 2024/25 season, as they look to build on their 14th-placed finish in 2023/24.

There was disappointment with the way Wolves finished the season, winning just one of the last 10 games and crashing out of the FA Cup quarter-final to Coventry City.

Injuries took a hold of the squad, and Wolves lost their firepower when the likes of Matheus Cunha, Hwang Hee-chan and Pedro Neto all got sidelined.

A new striker is on the agenda for the summer – and it looks as though Yuri Alberto could be targeted once again.

Wolves could move for Yuri Alberto, agent fees issue would no longer an issue

Back in January, Wolves targeted Yuri Alberto right at the end of the transfer window.

Gary O’Neil had been desperate to sign a new centre-forward, after letting both Fabio Silva and Sasa Kalajdzic go out on loan.

A deal had actually been struck between Corinthians and Wolves for Alberto to make the move. However it then collapsed, it was later reported that the player’s agent had demanded more money at the eleventh hour, causing Wolves to walk away.

Apparently, £790,000 in extra fees was demanded.

Football Transfers have reported this evening that this would not be an issue though now if Wolves were to go back in for the player.

And apparently that is something they are considering doing. Because Che Adams – another target for the club – could now be set for a move to Nottingham Forest.

Alberto is enjoying a good season

At the moment the Brazilian league is still going on and Alberto is actually having a pretty good campaign.

He has made 24 appearances and scored 13 goals, suggesting that he might be worth going back in for.

Alberto – described as a ‘strong typical number nine’ – would be something of a risk coming over from the Brazilian league to the English top-flight. But that said, Joao Gomes was also that and he has proven to be a terrific signing for Wolves.

If Adams does go and join Forest over Wolves, then it may well be that we see some movement on this one – especially if there will be no more issues regarding agent fees.
