Joseph Pentney, 26, of Nayland Road, Bures, banned from driving for year and a half and fined £550 after driving at nearly double alcohol limit

A man has been banned from driving for a year and a half and fined nearly £600 after driving at nearly double the alcohol limit.

Joseph Pentney, 26, of Nayland Road, Bures, was stopped by Sudbury Community Policing Team officers at 10.28pm on May 5 due to the manner of his driving.

After failing the test he was arrested and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where he failed another breath test, providing a sample of 69 micograms in 100ml of breath.

Joseph Pentney, 26, of Nayland Road, Bures, was banned from driving for 19 months and fined £553 at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The limit is 35 micrograms.

He was subsequently charged with driving with excess alcohol and pleaded guilty at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Pentney was disqualified from driving for 19 months and ordered to pay costs totalling £859.
