Report: European side ready to sell their £65m man this summer, Chelsea are keen on a deal

Reports have claimed that one top club in Europe are already bracing to have to sell arguably their best player this summer.

It is expected the Blues are going to be busy in this transfer window in order to give sufficient backing to new manager Enzo Maresca after he was appointed to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

A number of positions are on the agenda, and the club have already begun to go about their business with the acquisition of centre-back Tosin Aderabioyo on a free transfer.

One position that has also been mentioned that could need addressing is goalkeeper, with the role playing a key part in the build up for Maresca’s sides.

It has been claimed in the past that the Blues are keen on a deal to sign Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa.

Porto braced to sell Diogo Costa

Now, according toO Jogo, the side who finished third in the Portuguese League last summer are preparing for a future without him between the sticks, with a wave of top sides interested in a deal.

There is uncertainty right now over who is in line to play in goal if no goalkeeper is signed this summer.

Djordje Petrovic featured for the majority of 2024, and was singled out for praise by the incoming manager during his talks with the club.

However, it later came out that the Italian was excited by the prospect of working with Robert Sanchez, who had spent the second half of the season on the bench.

If the finances are available, it does feel as if this position is definitely upgradable this summer, and there aren’t many better options available for the long-term than Costa.

Having a goalkeeper comfortable with his feet is going to be huge under Maresca, and for this reason you would give the edge to Sanchez over Petrovic at this stage.
