Pickup truck driver convicted of shooting, killing man in apartment building parking lot

A now 25-year-old has been convicted ofshooting and killing another man in the parking lot of an apartment building in Camden before fleeing in a pickup truck.

A jury sitting in Camden County convicted Lesure Funari, of Burlington City, last week of murder and weapons offenses, the prosecutor’s office said.

Funari got out of the parked pickup on the 1000 block of Lois Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 28, 2021, walked across the street and shot Takwail Bailey multiple times, officials said

Bailey, 29, of Camden died of his injuries at an area hospital less than a half-hour later.

Investigators say the shooting was captured on surveillance footage in the area.

Funari fled after the shooting but wasarrested at a home in Camden on Jan. 7, 2022. He has been held since at the Camden County jail.

A sentencing date was not announced.
