Prince William is manifesting 'King vibes' but is finally relatable in new photo

A quick snap from Prince William’s working day has social media talking about iPhones, ‘King vibes’ and the benefits of seaweed innovation…

Presumably in an effort to show the public what the royals actually get up to day-to-day, Prince William took to social media earlier this week to showcase a behind-the-scenes look at an official royal visit to Wales. And while some royalists were quick to point out how regal the Prince of Wales looked on the train to Cardiff, others noticed a slight oddity within the picture, with William straying ever so slightly from typical royal protocol.

Prince William is giving ‘king vibes’ while attempting to look relatable

“En route to Cardiff today to celebrate seaweed innovation!” announced William on Twitter (X) on June 11, alongside a picture of him glaring out of the train window, looking deep in thought – perhaps thinking intently about seaweed.

One viewer commended the future monarch for looking prim and proper, describing William as giving off “King vibes”, though one tiny detail in the picture suggests that his royal highness was perhaps attempting to look more like a common man than a king.

The tiny detail in question is William’s iPhone. While royals are not forbidden from owing and using smartphones like the rest of us, members of The Firm are rarely seen carrying or using them while out on duty – indicating that, alongside his seat on a popular British rail network, William was perhaps attempting to look relatable to members of the public.

“It’s fascinating to think of the Prince of Wales having an iPhone”, wrote one keen-eyed observer in response to the post.

“Do you think Charles has WhatsApp and is in the group chat or nah?” joked another. “I reckon it’s 50/50”.

William did, however, receive a lot of replies pointing out that he appeared to be riding in the first-class carriage, which does not do his relatability any favors.

‘Seaweed innovation’ – who knew?

More so than the king vibes, the mobile phone or the luxury train ticket – Twitter users were fascinated by the fact that William was dedicating an entire royal visit to seaweed.

As explained later on in his thread, “Seaweed is one of the most abundant resources on the planet, and it is a potential solution to some of the biggest environmental problems felt across the World.”

During his visit to Cardiff, William visited the city’s Metropolitan University, where he was given a tour of the facilities, and co-hosted an event focused on unlocking “the superpower of seaweed”.

Unsurprisingly, William’s seaweed-based visit was met with typical British sarcasm online, with one user quipping: “That’s the same face I would make if I were en route to celebrate seaweed innovation”.

“Seaweed Innovation is a perfect name for a privately educated indie band”, joked another viewer.

William’s trip to Wales came days after his last public appearance, in which he helped represent the royals on the global stage at a series of commemorative D-Day events.
