'Verbally agree': Chelsea have completed deal to sign another defender after Tosin Adarabioyo - Romano

Chelsea have enjoyed a prosperous start to the summer as they get themselves set for the upcoming campaign.

The Blues are no doubt looking to give adequate backing to new manager Enzo Maresca after he was selected to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea have already announced a deal to sign Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer, after his time down the road at Fulham came to an end.

It has already been claimed that the defender is excited about the prospect of working with Maresca, and a number of first team signings are likely to follow him through the door.

However, it has also been stated that they will not be giving up on the mantra of bringing in young players, which has been key in the club’s transfer policy since Todd Boehly took over as the owner.

Chelsea secure deal for Pedro Lima

Reports last week claimed that the Blues were pushing for the addition of Pedro Lima, with them potentially looking to utilise Strasbourg as a destination for him to move to in order to develop him.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that a deal has been reached between the Blues and Sport Recife, and he will be on the move to the Ligue 1 side first.

He said: “Chelsea verbally agree to sign Brazilian 2006 born right back Pedro Lima from Sport Recife, here we go! Key detail: the deal will be done via BlueCo side Strasbourg.

“€7m fixed fee, €3.5m add-ons and player’s agent set to travel for final details.”

Andrey Santos set for first team role next season

The deal is one of the first examples of them utilising the multi-club model that they are reportedly looking to build on worldwide.

A loan of Andrey Santos out there last season saw their fortunes change on the pitch, and could well have done the player a lot of good for his future too.

It has been claimed that the Brazilian is in the club’s plans for next season already, and could well play a part under Maresca very soon.
