'Empowered' Erik ten Hag has three demands for Ineos, player he wants sold and deadline for urgent signings

Erik ten Hag is staying on as Manchester United manager, with Ineos deciding the back the Dutchman.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos did explore alternative manager options, before deciding that sticking with Erik ten Hag was the best option.

Ten Hag was bullish on his future when quizzed after the FA Cup Final, warning that he is a manager who delivers trophies.

And if you think him staying on means he is going to be Ineos’ ‘yes man’, who will be dictated to, think again. The Dutchman has his own demands.

According to The Times, Ten Hag is feeling ’empowered’ and has his own key demands for Ratcliffe and co.

Erik ten Hag wants signings before pre-season tour

Ineos have reservations over the transfer power given to Ten Hag under the previous regime. It was claimed they were ‘slightly horrified’ at how much influence he had.

A new structure is in place with a director of football incoming and technical director already appointed, which will offset the power Ten Hag had before.

What Ten Hag is insistent on, is for his key signings to be done prior to the club flying to the USA for pre-season on July 24.

The manager wants a defender, midfielder and striker to be signed before then. It makes a lot of sense to get deals done quickly, with United struggling to do so previously.

Erik ten Hag wants Jadon Sancho gone

Another very predictable outcome, Erik ten Hag is insistent Jadon Sancho must be sold this summer.

Sancho questioned Ten Hag’s authority and then refused to apologise, before being loaned out to Borussia Dortmund.

Ten Hag still had to deal with questions about Sancho during press conferences, as he was technically still a United player.

He wants rid of the issue for good, and Ineos are expected to oblige, providing a buyer for the expensive winger comes forward.

Erik ten Hag wants Benni McCarthy to stay

Erik ten Hag is insisting that his striker coach Benni McCarthy is granted a contract extension, with his deal set to expire.

McCarthy is popular among the staff and players, and Ten Hag wants to keep his coaching staff together.

The South African spoke recently about his attempts to mend the rift between Ten Hag and Sancho, but the winger was unwilling to compromise.
