Liverpool interested in Jeremie Frimpong

According to Sport Bild, Liverpool are ‘very interested’ in signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Jeremie Frimpong this summer.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a phenomenal season for the Bundesliga champions, netting 14 times whilst laying on 12 assists across all competitions.

The Netherlands international has predominantly operated as a right midfielder but can play as a conventional right-back.

Frimpong, who is one of the quickest players in Europe, has a £33.8m release clause in his contract – which is set to attract interest from a number of suitors.

Liverpool are seen as a concrete destination for the former Celtic man.

Liverpool face competition

Liverpool face fierce competition for Frimpong’s signature, with Bayern Munich and Manchester United among the interested parties.

Frimpong, who graduated through the Manchester City academy, may be tempted to return to Manchester, though, Liverpool should have the advantage with Champions League football on the horizon.

Bayern have made contact but are reportedly ‘hesitant’ to make an official offer, so at this stage, it’s a two-horse race.

A telling window awaits.
