Luis Palma's class UEFA shoutout after Champions League exploits with Celtic

Luis Palma is a player who has frustrated the Celtic fans this season.

From having a storming start early on in his Celtic career, Palma scored nine goals and ten assists before the turn of the year and was starting to show promise of being a quality player for Brendan Rodgers.

However, inconsistency plagued Palma after the New Year and he found himself in and out of the Celtic starting line-up as Rodgers had to turn to the likes of James Forrest and Hyunjun Yang for an attacking threat.

But despite that, Palma has been given a shout-out by UEFA after what he did with Celtic in the Champions League earlier this season.

Watch Palma’s Champions League goal celebration

Palma scored twice for Celtic in Europe’s top competition. Once against Atletico Madrid in the 2-2 draw at Parkhead and then in the final group game against Feyenoord in the 2-1 home win.

The Honduran brought a bit of flair to his goal celebrations but it wasn’t the goal celebration against the Dutch that helped end Celtic’s dismal win record in the group stages that caught UEFA’s attention.

Have a watch below:

The Honduran is an extremely popular player back in his homeland. Big things are expected of him on both the domestic and international scene.

Whilst he is consistently delivering with the Honduran national side, Palma needs to do more at Celtic to prove that he was worth the £3.5m Brendan Rodgers shelled out for him last summer.

My own personal opinion is that I believe Palma has what it takes to be a success at Celtic. Important goals in the Champions League show that he has what it takes to perform at the very top level.

Settling into a new country and club is never easy. Especially for a player who was just 23 when he was thrust into a club the size of Celtic.

Next season will be huge for the Honduran and if he canimprove on his consistency then Palma has the potential to be Celtic’s next big player.
