£30m player has just been told he can leave with Liverpool pushing to sign him

Liverpool are yet to make any serious moves in the transfer market this summer.

Although the window for players moving between clubs has not officially opened, there is still the possibility to get deals done.

This time last year, for example, saw Liverpool tie up a deal for Alexis Mac Allister in early June. There are no signs that something similar is about to happen this time.

Nevertheless, there will still hopefully be some additions to the Liverpool squad. There is still plenty of time left for that to happen and Reds fans should not be getting anxious.

By any stretch, it seems that Arne Slot will at least add a new centre-back before his first season at Anfield. And with that pursuit in mind, Liverpool may just have been given some good news.

Leny Yoro told he can leave Lille

Centre-back is reportedly a priority position for Liverpool to strengthen over the coming months.

The Reds have seen Joel Matip leave the club and could do with some support for Virgil van Dijk, Jarell Quansah and Ibrahima Konate.

Of course, we shouldn’t forget Joe Gomez who could still play centrally for Slot. Gomez looks set to stay at Liverpool despite reported interest from Bayern Munich.

But even with that quartet in place, the Reds could do with some fresh blood pumping in.

To that end there have been plenty of players from across the world linked with moves to Liverpool. One of the most exciting of those has been Lille teenager Leny Yoro.

Yoro is one of the most promising young centre-backs in Europe. His breakout for Lille as an 18-year-old has been mightily impressive. As a result, Liverpool are said to be pushing to sign Yoro.

And according to Lille president Olivier Letang, the defender is free to leave this summer. In quotes from journalist Fabrizio Romano on X, Letang has given Yoro an ‘exit voucher’ to change clubs with one year left on his contract.

“Leny Yoro and Jonathan David can leave the club this summer,” says the president. “Both have the ‘exit voucher’ due to their contract situation.”

Real Madrid join Liverpool in Leny Yoro chase

Letang’s admission is surely good news for Liverpool, although it by no means makes Yoro’s arrival at Anfield inevitable.

As one of the most high-profile young players on the continent, Yoro has attracted the attention of other clubs besides Liverpool.

According to Romano, the Reds are definitely looking into signing Yoro. However, the youngster is reportedly in the sights of Real Madrid, too.

In fact, Real are said to be believe that they’ve already won the race to sign Yoro from Lille. The European champions are claimed to be preparing a £30m bid to force the French side’s hand.

Although that seems relatively low for a top talent like Yoro, it is certainly a price-tag that Liverpool could match.

Lille may want more, but Letang has just left them in a poor position to negotiate. Let’s see what the next move is.
