Norway to provide Ukraine with grenade launcher shells: Details

Norway has prepared a new aid package for Ukraine worth tens of millions of euros, including grenades, according to Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.

Gram highlighted that Ukraine's need for ammunition is substantial and urgent, stating, "The country has weapons, but lacks ammunition."

As a result, Norway is donating grenade ammunition worth approximately 480 million Norwegian kroner (about 42 million euros).

"Ukraine has a great need for all types of ammunition, and they specifically requested what we are now sending," said Gram.

Norway also recently donated hand grenades worth about 50 million Norwegian kroner (4.7 million euros) and sniper ammunition worth 3 million Norwegian kroner (260,000 euros).

"There are significant needs, and we are trying to stand firm in Ukraine's tough fight," said the minister.

The support is part of broad international efforts to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.

"Russia is the main threat to Norwegian and European security. They attacked a peaceful neighboring country. It's clear that Ukraine is fighting for its independence and existence, but it also serves as a defense for Europe to prevent Russian aggression from prevailing in its territories," added Gram.

Norwegian aid to Ukraine

In April, it was reported that Norway plans to significantly increase aid to Ukraine. The amount is yet to be determined and will be discussed soon.

Norway had supplied Ukraine with military materials worth about 1 billion Norwegian kroner (almost 850 million euros) belonging to the Norwegian Armed Forces in recent months.
