Stroke awareness coffee morning, Town Hall, 10am to 12pm.

Have your blood pressure checked free of charge. Catching and treating high blood pressure early could help you avoid health conditions including heart attacks and strokes.

Children’s arts festival, The Croft, Hungerford, 11am to 3.30pm, free.

Activities including screen printing with Berkshire Printmakers, bird-themed art workshop with local artist Gemma Kirby, drumming with DrumRunners, cooking with Penny, stories with the authors of Frederick the Fox & Maximus the Mouse, circus skills with Berzerkaz and two musical performances from writer and performer Garth.P. Jones. Parents can bring a picnic, and enjoy drinks and snacks at The Club. Barbecue also on the day.

InCantata concert, outside Tesco Express in Northbrook Street, 11am to 12pm.

Project Band in the park, Victoria Park bandstand, 3pm to 5pm, free.

Come and see 25 local musicians playing jazz, soul and funk.

Kennet Opera Summer Concert, Shaw House, 6pm, £15 for adults.

Free parking, bar and refreshments available or bring your own picnic.

Newbury Chamber Choir performance, St Mary’s Church, Kintbury, 7.30pm, £15, under 18s free.

The choir will be singing Vierne’s Messe Solennelle, Willcock’s A Ceremony of Psalms and Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, all accompanied on the organ by Steve Bowey.

Sunday

Abingdon Town Band concert, Victoria Park bandstand, 3pm to 5pm, free.

Monday

Newbury Transport Group meeting, Kennet School, Thatcham, 7.30pm to 9.30pm, free.

Mark Bathhurst will speak about the preservation of the Medway Queen steam ship. Raffle and refreshments. All welcome.

Wednesday

Midsummer day event, Newtown Road Cemetery, 4pm to 9pm, free.

There will be a ‘Golden Couples tour’ by Carol Brindley featuring local people buried in the cemetery, and a ‘Find a Grave’ service to enable relatives to locate a family grave. A display of wildflowers currently blooming in the cemetery, will be on show at the cemetery chapel and there will be a ‘name the wildflower’ competition for children attending.
