Rio Ferdinand makes keep or sell decision on entire Man Utd squad, he couldn’t decide on two players

With one day before the transfer window opens, Rio Ferdinand has given his verdict over which Manchester United players he’d keep and sell.

This summer is the first of Ineos‘ reign at the pinnacle of the sport, and they’re set for a busy one with plenty of work to do at Old Trafford.

Manchester United will be expected to bring in at least four new signings, and some big money sales are also on the cards too.

Jason Wilcox and co will be making real-life decisions over each and every player in the squad while all the fans will have their own views on who should be sold and kept.

Now, Rio Ferdinand has done just that in a recent interview running through every first-team player and giving his verdict on their future.

Rio Ferdinand decides whether to keep or sell every single Manchester United player

Something we all do as the transfer window arrives every summer is go through the squad and look at who we’d keep or sell. We did our own version at United in Focus a few weeks ago, and now Ferdinand has joined in.

Speaking with the Daily Mail on TikTok, Ferdinand was asked whether he’d sell or keep every individual player, and he was actually stuck on two.

Here’s every decision he made;

Andre Onana – “Keep.”

Diogo Dalot – “Keep.”

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – “Keep.”

Harry Maguire – “I’d probably sell him.”

Victor Lindelof – “I’d keep as a back-up centre-half if we go and get another one.”

Lisandro Martinez – “Keep.”

Luke Shaw – “He’s missed a while with injuries, but when he plays he’s probably one of the best left-backs about, so I’d probably still keep him and give him another chance.”

Casemiro – “I’d keep for the experience and the hope that he’ll have a better season than last season.”

Kobbie Mainoo – “Keep.”

Scott McTominay – “Keep.”

Christian Eriksen – “Sell.”

Bruno Fernandes – “Keep.”

Mason Mount – “He deserves another opportunity.”

Marcus Rashford – “Interesting one, I think I’d need to talk to Rashford and just find out where his head’s at, find out what he wants to do, what’s been the reasons for the downturn in performances. If I get the right answer I’ll keep him, if I don’t like what I hear, I’ll let him go.”

Alejandro Garnacho – “Keep.”

Antony – “On the basis of this season’s performances, I’d probably let him go.”

Jadon Sancho – “I think he needs a new start, I’d let him go.” It is also worth nothing this sale has already been asked for by Erik ten Hag.

Amad Diallo – “Keep.”

Mason Greenwood – “Ohh… I need a conversation with him as well to see where his heads at, find out the temperature around the club. I’d probably even have communication with the supporter groups as well. I think it’s a real club decision rather than a single-person decision.”

Rasmus Hojlund – “Keep.”

Which of Ferdinand’s decisions we disagree over

While the majority of his calls were spot on, there were a few we disagree with with the first being opting to sell Maguire.

In the past season, Maguire proved everyone wrong and impressed with next season being the perfect time for him to play a squad role where he can come into the team when needed.

Another we disagree with is not selling Casemiro. After a terrible campaign last term, the Brazilian seems destined to depart and if he does, it’d be the correct call.

However, while we can make picks all we want, it all depends on who the club signs as without a new midfielder, Casemiro will definitely stay.
