Cole Palmer shares what impressive move Kobbie Mainoo pulled off in England training that the cameras didn’t catch

Kobbie Mainoo is heading to Euro 2024 with England, and he’s seriously in contention to start for Gareth Southgate’s side.

What a monumental rise Mainoo has had for Manchester United during the 23/24 season. The Manchester United academy graduate has not only cemented himself as a regular in Erik ten Hag’s starting XI – he’s now going to Euro 2024 with his country.

Mainoo will be tasked, alongside Luke Shaw, with the task for the Three Lions that hasn’t been completed since 1966. To bring football home.

Is it England’s year? Who knows, but Mainoo is going to be a part of the journey this young, talented squad is on in Germany. He’s already been impressing in training.

Cole Palmer shares what Kobbie Mainoo did in England training

Over the past few days, the England squad has been hard at work training in Germany in preparation for their opener against Serbia on Sunday.

There have been numerous clips showcasing what they’ve been up to, which has included some slightly more unorthodox training methods.

The Three Lions were filmed playing football tennis, which as you’d imagine, is just the classic game of tennis – played with your feet instead of a racquet.

On an episode of the Lions’ Den, on England’s official YouTube Channel, Josh Denzel sat down with Cole Palmer and Mainoo, to watch these clips back among other things.

A clip appeared where Kyle Walker pulled off an acrobatic overhead kick, which impressed host Denzel. He said: “I saw Walks [Walker] pull off an overhead kick there, I was like…”

Cole Palmer then responded, gesturing to Mainoo: “You pulled off an overhead kick though didn’t you?” Mainoo replied: “Yeah no one saw that because it was in the lower leagues!”

Cameras must have missed that one, but evidently, Mainoo’s fine performances in matches are translating to the training pitch. The full interview can be found below.
