The Adam Idah alternative Celtic should be taking a look at this summer - opinion

Celtic are in the hunt for a striker this summer and could be set for change within their forward line due to recent developments.

Hyeongyu Oh is a target for Genk in a deal that could see the Bhoys inherit at least £3.5 million plus add-ons. This could potentially leave Kyogo Furuhashi as the only forward with senior experience on the books at Parkhead.

The Japan international registered 19 goals in 50 appearances last campaign; however, as seen with Adam Idah’s loan spell, there is space for another striker to challenge Celtic’s talisman over the course of a season [Transfermarkt].

Nevertheless, Idah is now back at Norwich City, and it is unclear if there will be an avenue for Brendan Rodgers to sanction a permanent transfer despite indicating he would be keen to acquire the Cork-born man.

Should that be the case, 67 Hail Hail take a look at another option that may be worth considering for Celtic ahead of 2024/25.

Rafiu Durosinmi could be a compelling option for Celtic

Looking across the world, there are plenty of compelling options that Celtic could aim to pursue if Idah doesn’t arrive at Parkhead, possessing a wide range of attributes that would fit the bill for Rodgers.

In my opinion, one man who could offer a solution to any potential issue is Viktoria Plzen striker Rafiu Durosinmi, who stands at 6ft 4in and has been making remarkable progress in Czechia’s top-flight.

Per Transfermarkt, the Nigerian put up nine goals and six assists in 19 appearances across 2023/24 before a knee injury that required surgery ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

Subsequently, that put paid to a deal that would’ve seen him move to Eintracht Frankfurt in January after he failed a medical [Sky Germany].

It isn’t clear how long he is set to be on the sidelines; however, if Celtic are serious about pushing their limits in the Champions League, why shouldn’t they enter the conversation for players such as Durosinmi?

Per Sofascore, the 21-year-old managed around two shots, 2.2 key passes and a goal every 130 minutes on league duty last term.

Component within his hold-up play, off-the-ball movement, and ability to stretch defences, the Lagos-born man could be the ideal figure to spearhead Celtic’s attack in the Champions League.

Admittedly, he would be more on the ambitious scale of frontmen to target, and is someone who may command a hefty fee when his time to leave Viktoria Plzen comes.

Nevertheless, you have to speculate to accumulate sometimes, and he is an individual that would most certainly improve Rodgers’ frontline.
