‘Different’: Cody Gakpo says Liverpool have an ‘incredible’ player who’s nothing like Roberto Firmino

Cody Gakpo has named Mohamed Salah as one of his greatest teammates.

Speaking to JD Football on TikTok, the Dutchman was asked to name his greatest teammate, and, as you can imagine, he struggled to come up with just one name.

Gakpo reminisced about some of the great attacking players he’s played with over the years, naming Memphis Depay and Roberto Firmino as two players he loved working alongside.

However, the striker reserved some special praise for Mohamed Salah, claiming that the winger is an incredible player even though he’s nothing like Roberto Firmino as a player.

Cody Gakpo says Mohamed Salah is one of his greatest teammates

Gakpo spoke highly of Salah, describing him as an incredible player.

“Up front I have played with Memphis, Bobby Firmino an incredible striker, I’ve played with Mo Salah, he’s a different type of player, but he’s incredible, so it’s hard to name just one,” Gakpo said.

Salah is one of Liverpool’s best ever

Gakpo is right, Salah isn’t very similar to Firmino as a player, but he’s one of Liverpool’s best attackers ever.

The Egyptian’s goal record speaks for itself, and if he joined the club when he was younger, he’d probably have his eye on Ian Rush’s goalscoring record.

Salah has achieved all there is to achieve at Anfield, and while he may not be as flashy or as creative as Firmino, he’s so clinical and so effective.

Gakpo has played with some utterly brilliant players throughout his career, but there’s a strong case to make that Salah is the very best of the bunch.

Liverpool are so lucky to have Salah, and if the attacker is to leave Anfield in the near future he will leave as a modern-day club legend.
