Report: Newcastle told they could sign £34m striker for just £20m after also making Michael Olise move

Newcastle have now been told they could buy a £34m striker for just £20m – after also making a move to sign Crystal Palace No.7 Michael Olise.

The Magpies are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements this summer as Eddie Howe aims to take Newcastle back into the UEFA Champions League – and an enticing opportunity has now arisen.

So, which bargain could Newcastle snap up? Let’s take a look…

Newcastle could sign Tammy Abraham for £20m

An exclusive story from us here at TBR Football recently claimed that Roma are willing to offload Tammy Abraham for £28m this summer as the Italian giants look to raise some cash.

Sources have told TBR Football that Newcastle are among those considering a move for the England international after hearing of this development.

Now – according to Italian sources close to the Telegraph – Roma are so desperate to sell Abraham that they may even consider a £20m deal, which represents a substantial loss on the £34m spent to sign the striker from Chelsea in August 2021.

The rumour comes after The Athletic claimed that Newcastle have now approached Crystal Palace to sign the aforementioned Olise – along with Bayern Munich and Chelsea.

Eddie Howe seems to want a specific type of striker

Interest in Abraham comes after a separate story from the Telegraph mentioned that Howe is also considering a move for Everton No.9 Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Like the Roma No.9, the Toffees talisman is a tall, quick striker capable of scoring with his head and his feet, so there seems to be a pattern emerging in regards to Newcastle’s attacking targets.

In truth, both Abraham and Calvert-Lewin are similar to Alexander Isak in terms of physique, so Howe is seemingly looking to sign a No.9 who can fill in for the Sweden international and replicate what he brings to the table in a physical sense when leading the line.
