Report: Unai Emery now likely to make 'special' Aston Villa player available for sale this summer

It has just come to light, that Unai Emery is likely to make a ‘special’ Aston Villa striker available for sale this summer, according to a recent report.

The Villa boss is set to sanction a number of sales this summer as the club are under pressure to sell players before the end of June – when the financial year ends.

The West Midlanders need to raise funds to stay in line with Financial Fair Play regulations and it seems one player is set to be placed on the transfer list.

Cameron Archer likely to be made available for sale

According to the Northern Echo, Aston Villa are likely to make Cameron Archer available for sale this summer transfer window.

Villa sanctioned his sale last summer, with Sheffield United paying £18m for his signature but a clause in his contract meant the West Midlanders had to resign him after Blades’ relegation from the Premier League.

Unai Emery won’t be keeping him, though, as the club are set to look for buyers in the market and Archer is keen to stay in the Premier League.

Middlesbrough will keep an eye on developments

A return to Middlesbrough has been mooted, however, they aren’t actively pursuing a deal because of finances.

Villa will demand a sizable fee for his signature which rules out most clubs in the Championship, though, Boro will still keep an eye on his developments.

Perhaps a move to newly-promoted Ipswich seems the most feasible destination for Archer, if he is to remain in the top-flight.
