'Here we go confirmed': Fabrizio Romano says Newcastle are on verge of 'incredible' signing

Newcastle United are likely to be busy in the summer transfer window as they look to strengthen their ranks.

The Magpies squad was pushed to its limits last season and they’ll need to increase their strength in depth if they want to kick on.

However, Newcastle must also abide by profit and sustainability rules, which means they must be careful in the market or risk points deductions.

This means the Magpies are expected to look at free transfers to bolster their ranks without putting the club at risk of breaching financial rules.

Now, Newcastle have reportedly struck a deal over one of the most highly sought after free agents in the Premier League this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Magpies have reached a verbal agreement with Lloyd Kelly to sign him once his Bournemouth contract expires.

The transfer insider declared “here we go confirmed” on Kelly to Newcastle, with a medical to follow ahead of a contract that runs until June 2028.

Here is what Romano wrote on X about Kelly to Newcastle:

Newcastle on verge of signing Lloyd Kelly

When a player of Kelly’s calibre becomes available on a free transfer, signing him is a no-brainer.

We’ve all seen what Kelly can do. He’s a top player who is proven in the Premier League and, at just 25 years of age, he’s yet to reach his prime.

The ‘incredible‘ talent is also capable of playing at both left-back and centre-back at a high level, so he ticks two boxes for Newcastle position-wise.

In addition, Eddie Howe knows Kelly well from his time at Bournemouth, so all in all, this would be an outstanding signing for the Magpies.
