Beale turned nose up at Bosman deal but bargain international striker could be Gers Cousin 2.0

Philippe Clement is clearly looking for extra firepower this summer as he plans to take Rangers from also rans to run away winners.

The manager has Nils Koppen doing all the hard yards to get deals over the line and he can be happy with the work done so far, even if a striker hasn’t yet been secured.

Danilo and Cyriel Dessers should still be at Rangers next season, but could Clement find a bargain replacement for Kemar Roofe with a reputation for scoring goals?

Rangers have second chance to land Jean-Philippe Krasso

Ivory Coast international Jean-Philippe Krasso was available on a free transfer last summer, however, Michael Beale turned his nose up at a player who had been prolific in Ligue 2 to spend upwards of £4m on an unfit Dessers.

Red Star Belgrade snapped the 26-year old up when he left Saint-Etienne and his career in Serbia started with a bang.

Six goals and two assists in his first seven Super Lig games suggested that Red Star had pulled off a masterstroke only to drop the 6ft 2inch tall hitman as soon as the going go tough.

He still ended the season with a goal or an assist every 100 minutes, a credible return given that he was in and out of the team after a blistering start.

Krasso is the modern centre-forward, capable of holding the ball up and linking play, but also of being the main focus in the middle of the box.

Exactly the type of profile that Philippe Clement should be looking for and, with Red Star needing the money, he is available for a paltry £750,000, according to Serbian news outlet SPORTKLUB.

A pittance for an established Ivory Coast international currently on a scoring rate of a goal every three games for his country.

In France, Krasso hit 21 goals and chipped in with 14 assists in 50 games, the sort of return that a Rangers forward should be contributing.

Rangers need to add much needed depth in attack

Successful Rangers teams have always had good depth and a good mix of forwards.

Danilo is totally different to Dessers and Krasso is different to both of them, as is Albion Rrahmani, the Kosovan who Nils Koppen has held talks with and is, reportedly, leading the chase for.

If the Gers recruitment director can be clever by cutting the wage bill, being able to bring in a fourth, experienced, striker could be the difference in a long season.

In each of the last three seasons, Rangers title efforts have fallen by the wayside due to injury and the manager running out of goalscoring options.

For the money invovled, Krasso could be the new Danile Cousin or Jean-Claude Darcheville.
