Manchester United 'agree personal terms' with transfer target, £150,000 per week deal

Manchester United have moved a step closer to signing Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

The Premier League powerhouse has agreed personal terms over a move to Manchester United, The Times report.

Jarrad Branthwaite, 21, has emerged as a key target for Manchester United, with the club looking for a centre-back after Raphael Varane’s exit.

Manchester United negotiate for Jarrad Branthwaite

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Jarrad Branthwaite, which would see the centre-back earn between £150,000 and £160,000 per week.

No fee has yet been agreed with Everton, who want up to £70 million for the defender.

Manchester United see Branthwaite more in the £50 million range.

Everton’s weak financial position leaves them needing to cash in before the end of June, for accounting purposes.

The Mail reported earlier that Manchester United are set to make an opening bid for the defender.

Branthwaite not at Euro 2024

Jarrad Branthwaite was left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad, despite an injury to Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.

This makes a potential deal for Branthwaite less complicated, as he has no international involvements as a distraction.

It also ensures Branthwaite’s fee can’t be hiked up further, which could have happened if he had played a key role for England at the tournament.

Branthwaite may not be the only defender United sign, with it claimed by The Times that the club want to sign two centre-backs.
