Ivan Toney says Man City star as one of the most skilful players he’s ever worked with

Ivan Toney has named a Manchester City player as being one of the most skilful players he’s seen.

Throughout his career, the striker has made 409 senior club appearances in total, scoring 164 goals along the way.

Having appeared in 85 Premier League games, the 28-year-old has played alongside and against a wide range of top-level figures.

After his latest season in the top flight of English football, the centre-forward has found himself in the final England squad for the European Championship in Germany.

Ahead of the tournament, the Bees star has been sharing his thoughts on some of the other players currently in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Euros that he’s been training with recently.

Specifically, one City player in particular appears to have caught Toney’s attention.

Ivan Toney says Phil Foden is so skilful with the ball

In a recent short shared on the talkSPORT YouTube channel, Toney was asked a number of questions concerning his England teammates.

When asked to name who is the most skilful player in the squad, the Brentford striker picked Phil Foden.

After emerging through the youth ranks at the Manchester club, the 24-year-old has now made senior 270 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Across those games, the Englishman has scored 87 goals and provided 53 assists along the way.

Foden’s skills on the ball have been praised previously

This isn’t the first time Foden has been highlighted for his skills on the ball, as Alan Shearer picked the City star in this particular category when asked to build his ideal footballer recently.

In addition to that, Guardiola hailed the Englishman back in August (via The Independent) by saying this about his ability on the ball.

He said: “He has an incredible ability between the lines. The way he turns and attacks the last lines – it is one of the best I have seen. Every control, he knows exactly what is the goal. He doesn’t need two or three touches to get in the right position to attack the goal. In just one touch he is attacking.”

Taking all of that into account, it shouldn’t surprise many City fans that Toney has named the 24-year-old as the most skilful player in the current England squad.
