5 players for Man Utd fans to watch at Euro 2024 who could be at Old Trafford next season, include Dutch star waiting for debut

Manchester United fans should definitely be turning their attention to a number of players as Euro 2024 looms.

Current Manchester United first-team squad stars are jetting out to Germany on Friday, seven to be exact, in the hopes of bringing the coveted award back for their international sides.

But such as Manchester United fans will be interested in their current players, there will also be many features that the Red Devils will be interested in on the transfer market.

So, with this, here are five players Manchester United fans should be watching when the tournament begins on Friday.

Joao Neves

First off, a man who has been heavily linked to Manchester United – Joao Neves will be heading to his first-ever major international competition with Portugal.

The Red Devils have already bid for the teenager, and are likely to bid again in the coming weeks. If he performs at Euro 2024, his price tag could shoot up from the already eye-watering amount.

He’s shown his class for Portugal in the warm-up games, and it’s going to be interesting to see how he performs on the huge stage that is the Euros.

Next up, a man who very nearly wasn’t going to be on a flight to Germany whatsoever, Balogna’s Joshua Zirkzee.

Zirkzee, 23 joined Chelsea star Ian Maatsen as a late addition to Ronald Koeman’s 26-man squad after Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners were ruled out.

He actually has zero appearances for the Dutch, but after a fantastic season in Italy, he could be a potential wildcard for them. He’s been linked with the Red Devils for some time now, but the heat has ramped up – with the Dutchman now on a three-man shortlist.

Matthijs de Ligt

Naturally, the most well-known player on this list is going to be Matthijs de Ligt, but he’s one to watch going into the competition given he looks to be available this summer.

Bayern Munich need cash, and with two centre-backs inbound, they could let Erik ten Hag’s former player go, with Manchester United interested.

A phenomenal performance with the Netherlands could significantly raise his price, and yield interest from other European sides. That is if they’re not interested already.

Maximilian Beier

Maximilian Beier is a very recent transfer target for Manchester United – but one that could certainly be a fine acquisition to bring to Old Trafford.

The reason being? The highly-rated 21-year-old has just a £27.5m release clause, which is an ideal price to buy in order to have someone competing with the number nine slot with Rasmus Hojlund.

After a breakthrough Bundesliga season, he received his first call-up to the national side for the illustrious competition. It’ll be exciting to see if he gets any minutes.

Goncalo Inacio

Last but not least, another centre-back option in Gancalo Inacio, who also plays for Portugal alongside Neves.

Inacio was a regular offender in the Sporting Lisbon side team which walked the Portuguese league title last season, 10 points clear of their nearest rivals. Now, he looks for Euros glory with his country.

Manchester United were first linked to Goncalo Inacio in May 2022, but it’s dramatically ramped up in recent months – with the club having sent scouts at times to watch the centre-back. Naturally, they should be doing the same at Euro 2024.
