One thing Guilherme said during his official interview as a West Ham player will absolutely stun you

Luis Guilherme joined West Ham United yesterday, and he shared his first words after officially becoming a Hammers player.

Exciting young Brazilian Luis Guilherme is now a West Ham player, and Tim Steidten promised that there is plenty more where that came from.

The Hammers paid around £25.5 million to secure the signing of the 18-year-old Samba starlet, and big things are expected of him at the London Stadium.

Guilherme has all of the talent and potential in the world, and his skillset, impressive pace and wicked left foot will undoubtedly thrill the West Ham fans over the next few years.

The teenager is a right winger, but he can actually play anywhere along the front-line, so he should provide Julen Lopetegui with some real tactical flexibility.

However, he is obviously still quite rough around the edges, and has no experience of playing Premier League football, so we will all have to be patient with him.

What is Guilherme himself thinking about his move from Brazil to East London though? I guarantee you this, he just said one thing that will leave you absolutely flabbergasted.

What Luis Guilherme said in first West Ham interview will stun you

It was a hugely exciting day yesterday when the signing of the 18-year-old was announced.

West Ham were said to have beaten some of Europe’s very biggest clubs to Guilherme’s signature.

And now the young Brazilian is ours. Quite incredible really.

Guilherme sat down to speak to the Hammers’ YouTube channel, after his £25.5 million move from Palmeiras was confirmed.

The interview was a lengthy one, but one thing he said in particular really stood out to me.

He spoke at length about all things West Ham, with one shocking revelation…

Guilherme said, “Yes, I’ve had a look round the training ground, I really love it. The infrastructure is great, I love it and I’ll make the most of it.”

You’ve got to laugh haven’t you!

West Ham’s training ground has been the butt of many a joke throughout the years.

The Rush Green development is nowhere near the required standard for a Premier League club, and the poor quality of the facilities is underlined by the portacabins we have on display.

Who knows, perhaps Guilherme was just being polite. In fact, I’m sure that would have been the case!

Only eight players have cost West Ham more than Guilherme signing

Guilherme has become the Hammers’ ninth most expensive signing of all-time – not bad for an 18-year-old!

So which players complete our top eight most expensive signings of all-time?

Lucas Paqueta is first on the list, after his £51 million move from Lyon, followed by Sebastien Haller and Mohammed Kudus.

Then in at fourth and fifth on the list are Felipe Anderson and Edson Alvarez cost £36 million and £34 million respectively.

Then the sixth, seventh and eighth places are filled by players who all cost around £30 million – Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd and James Ward-Prowse.

Luis Guilherme is West Ham United’s ninth costliest signing of all-time. Now it’s time for him to prove to us all why the club took such a big financial punt on a teenager.
