Film crews at Margate beach shooting climate change advert

Film crews descended on a Kent beach this week to capture the coast as part of a backdrop to a fresh production.

Seen in Margate on the steps toward the sea in The Parade on Monday, pictures show the team filming in front of the water.

It is understood for one day they were shooting part of an advert focused on climate change awareness set to launch this summer, and are currently finishing the piece in and around London.

It is not the first time in recent months crews have used Kent as the backdrop for filming.

Last month, a production team was spotted shooting a “science fiction thing” in Maidstone.

Eagle-eyed shoppers reported seeing cameramen setting up in Pudding Lane the evening of May 19 with a passerby reporting to KentOnline that they were told it was a science fiction production.

The Vere Road parking area in Broadstairs was shut on May 11 and May 12 for filming. It is understood a well-known mobile network provider was shooting a “positive commercial”.

Also in May, Dua Lipa was spotted on a Kent beach filming a music video.

The English-Albanian popstar, 28, was pictured in Viking Bay, Broadstairs, with large crowds gathering to catch a glimpse of the famous singer-songwriter.

Starstruck beachgoers could be seen watching on as Dua was filmed walking along the sand with multiple crew members around her.

In April, ITV crews arrived at Middle Street Car Park in Deal to film scenes for series six of the TV drama Unforgotten, which was the third most-watched drama across all channels and the 9th most-watched show in 2023.

In March, cameramen were spotted filming a new series of a murder mystery drama in Whitstable.

The sudden flurry of television industry bods descended on East Kent to film the Whitstable Pearl, based on the novels by local resident, Julie Wassmer.
