Leeds United eyeing move for ‘perfect’ Tottenham player after receiving Joe Rodon blow

Leeds United are now eyeing a potential summer swoop for one of Tottenham Hotspur’s players having received a blow to their Joe Rodon interest.

The summer transfer window is now officially open as Tottenham look to trim the squad of the players Ange Postecoglou does not require going into the new campaign.

Daniel Levy has made a positive start to the summer when it comes to offloading players with several allowed to leave following the conclusion of their deals.

The likes of Eric Dier and Ryan Sessegnon have left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over recent days after the club did not extend their stays.

After terminating Tanguy Ndombele‘s contract in recent days, Tottenham have now received an offer for Djed Spence which could see them greenlight their first sale of the summer.

And it now seems as if another Spurs player is catching the eye of Championship side Leeds United as they look to make a return to the Premier League.

Leeds looking to capitalise on good relationship with Spurs

Spurs and Leeds have done a fair bit of business over the years with some of the more recent seeing Jack Clarke sold to the Lilywhites.

Just last season, Joe Rodon spent the campaign with the Yorkshire side on loan for the season to attain some further first team action.

However, Leeds’ interest in signing the Wales international this summer have taken a real blow following their failure to earn promotion back to the top flight.

The combination of remaining in the Championship and Spurs triggering Rodon’s contract extension will make a permanent deal for the defender incredibly difficult.

However, according to The Athletic, Leeds are now showing an interest in Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp.

Interest is arriving at Elland Road this summer in some of Daniel Farke’s midfielders which may require them to invest over the coming months.

And it is believed Farke is looking at his former Norwich City player, Skipp, as a potential option to bolster his side.

What Daniel Farke has previously said about Oliver Skipp

Farke was able to work with Skipp over the 2020/21 campaign when he joined on loan from Spurs for the season.

Despite being an unproven youngster, Farke put a lot of trust in Skipp as he played in every Championship game barring the final game of the season due to injury.

Having shown what he is capable of in the Championship and seeing him struggle for minutes in north London, Farke feels Skipp would be a big addition to his side.

And the German manager has previously had some glowing praise to shine on the Tottenham midfielder during his time at Carrow Road.

“He was one of my biggest wishes to bring in last summer, so compliments to Stuart Webber for making it happen,” Farke told Pink Un back in 2021.

“I can only praise Olly [Skipp] and Tottenham. This was perfect business.

“The best piece of business is always a permanent move when you are fully convinced and you commit the club’s future to a player, and they do likewise.

“A loan is tricky. But if you have a chance to bring in someone who can be a major boost to the squad then perhaps a loan is the only way that happens.”
