Cristian Romero issues message to £70k-per-week player who could leave Tottenham this summer

Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has now issued a message to one of his club teammates who could leave this summer.

A busy few weeks could lie ahead for Tottenham as Ange Postecoglou looks to complete some early business in the summer transfer window.

The Lilywhites are going into the new campaign with the knowledge Europa League football will be played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Having already brought in Timo Werner on a season-long loan deal, player exits will also be on the mind for the north London side.

Spurs are said to have a list of 15 players who could potentially depart this summer with the list split into different categories with some players a bigger priority than others in being offloaded.

One player who is one of the players who Spurs are said to be looking to move on this summer has now been issued a message by vice-captain Cristian Romero.

Cristian Romero sends message to potential summer exit at Tottenham

There are a number of clubs in the Premier League who are needing to sell some of their players this month ahead of the 30 June PSR deadline.

Tottenham are not one of those sides, however, they do have a number of players who Postecoglou would be willing to offload having had a year now to assess his inherited squad.

Some players have already left the club having been released following the end of their contracts like Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic.

Giovani Lo Celso is one of the players who could join them in leaving Spurs this summer with interest building for his signature.

It is believed Aston Villa are even one of the clubs who are showing an interest in signing Lo Celso this summer.

And Spurs’ vice-captain, Romero, has now issued a message of support to Lo Celso following his recent display for Argentina.

Replying to Lo Celso’s Instagram post after their recent win over Ecuador, Romero said: “You make everything alright”.

Despite Romero’s glowing review of his compatriot, it does seem as if his opportunities at Spurs are gone with Postecoglou using him sparingly over the 2023/24 campaign.

What Lionel Messi has said about Giovani Lo Celso

Despite not playing regularly for Tottenham, the £70k-per-week Lo Celso remains a frequent feature in the Argentina side during the international breaks.

And he has received some glowing reviews from the likes of Lionel Messi who wished he was with the Argentina squad during their World Cup triumph.

“We miss you and Gio [Lo Celso], you two are always present!” Messi said to Sergio Aguero during the tournament in 2022.

Clearly, this is a player who is rated extremely highly by some of the best to ever do it on a football pitch, but Postecoglou – like other Spurs managers – evidently does not see it.
