71-Year-Old Tampa Woman Arrested For Murder Following Dispute Over Housekeeping

TAMPA, Fla. - A Tampa woman, Patricia Whitehead, 71, has been arrested and charged with the murder of a man following a dispute over cleanliness in their home.

On June 13, 2024, at approximately 9:28 a.m., Tampa Police officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 1000 block of E 26th Avenue.

Upon arrival, they discovered a man with upper body trauma. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives determined that the victim and Whitehead were cohabitants. Whitehead allegedly became enraged with the victim, claiming he neglected his housekeeping duties.

The incident unfolded as the victim was exiting the residence, and Whitehead reportedly heard him slam the door. This triggered her to retrieve a firearm from her bedroom. She then exited the residence and shot the victim multiple times.

Whitehead was apprehended at the scene and transported to Orient Road Jail. She is currently facing murder charges.
