'Sensational' Tottenham attacking talent really 'wants to break through' at Spurs but could yet be sold - journalist

Tottenham Hotspur are likely to have a busy summer on the transfer front, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Ange Postecoglou laid some solid foundations in his maiden season at Spurs and will be eager to keep strengthening his squad.

However, Tottenham also have a number of players that appear surplus to requirements, and there’s a good chance they could be offloaded.

Now, according to football.london‘s Alasdair Gold, a Spurs academy graduate who was tipped for stardom a few years ago has been backed to leave N17.

This is despite the ‘sensational‘ talent wanting to break through at Tottenham and pushing to be involved in pre-season.

The player in question is Troy Parrott, who enjoyed a bright season on loan at Excelsior in the Netherlands last term.

Parrott’s efforts have put him in the sights of AZ Alkmaar, who are “particularly keen” on the 22-year-old forward.

“The striker wants to break through at Tottenham and will be pushing to be involved in pre-season in order to catch the eye,” added Gold.

“But ultimately Postecoglou will have the final say.”

Troy Parrott will fight for his Tottenham future

Parrott is a top talent who some were hoping would embark on a Harry Kane-like trajectory into the Tottenham first-team some years ago.

Back in 2019-20, plenty of fans were calling for then Spurs boss Jose Mourinho to play Parrott during their injury crisis up front.

Mourinho resisted those calls, which in hindsight was probably the best call, as he wouldn’t have been ready to be thrown in at the deep end.

Four-and-a-half years on, Parrott has certainly shown he has what it takes to play professional football at a good level.

Let’s hope that Postecoglou can give him a chance in pre-season to see whether he can go on to play a role in the Tottenham first-team.

His attitude is certainly the right one, so let’s see whether the Spurs boss can be convinced of his talents over the coming weeks.
