Report: West Ham now expected to strike deal for 'fundamental' player after Luis Guilherme

West Ham United have been busy in the transfer market ahead of the window opening in the next few days.

The Hammers finished ninth in the table and missed out on European qualification, so they’ll want to do much better next term.

West Ham have also brought in a new manager, with Julen Lopetegui taking the Hammers reins in wake of David Moyes’ departure at the end of the season.

With that in mind, West Ham will be eager to bolster their ranks and give Lopetegui the best chance of getting off to a great start in 2024/25.

The Hammers are said to be closing in on Luis Guilherme and, according to a new report now doing the rounds, another talent could be on the way in the coming weeks.

According to Goal Brasil, West Ham are looking to up their bid for Corinthians attacker Wesley after failing with a €15million (£12.6million) offer.

Corinthians reportedly want €30million (£25.3million) but the report claims it’s ‘more likely’ the Hammers will offer around €20million (£16.9million), including bonuses.

The good news for West Ham, as per the report, is that there’s an ‘expectation’ that the clubs will find a deal this summer.

Corinthians would apparently like to sell the player now but keep him until the end of the Brazilian season in December.

According to Goal, West Ham are happy with those terms, which suggests a deal could be on the horizon.

Who is West Ham target Wesley?

West Ham already appear to be closing in on one Brazilian talent in Guilherme, and it looks as though Wesley could be next for the Hammers.

Wesley is a 19-year-old attacking talent who can play across the front line and already has 66 competitive appearances for Corinthians under his belt.

A few weeks ago, club boss Antonio Oliveira expressed his concerns about potentially losing such a key player.

Speaking to Radio Itatiaia, Oliveira said: “I am worried. I am a coach and I want those who can help us achieve something, he is fundamental.

“Therefore, it [losing him] is something that worries me as a coach.”
