Wolves should now sign 'special' Sarabia upgrade, Ian Wright dubbed him 'unbelievable' - opinion

Wolves should join the race to land a ‘special’ upgrade on Spaniard Pablo Sarabia, who could be on his way out of Molineux this summer.

The start of the transfer window has handed Wolves supporters a rare feeling of excitement. After completing the permanent signing of Tommy Doyle in May, the club have now confirmed the shrewd £12.7 million capture of Rodrigo Gomes.

Arriving from Portuguese giants Braga, Rodrigo has been hailed for his versatility, with Gary O’Neil praising him for his ability to play across numerous positions.

The 20-year-old stepping into Molineux holds the promise that the Old Gold can have a successful transfer window, whereby they hold onto their most valuable assets and bolster their squad with quality.

Unfortunately, there is one player who may be on his way out of Wolverhampton this summer.

Wolves could sell Pablo Sarabia this summer

Although Pedro Neto is the most likely of any Wolves player to depart, Pablo Sarabia’s contract situation puts him at risk of being sold.

The 32-year-old sees his deal at the club expire in the summer of 2025, meaning if he isn’t offloaded in this window, he could leave on a free transfer.

According to the Athletic, Wolves could struggle to offload the attacker due to his high wages. He’s currently the club’s highest earner at a whopping £90,000 per week after arriving for £4.4 million from Paris Saint Germain in January 2023.

Sarabia did enjoy a decent campaign at Molineux, supplying the joint-most assists in O’Neil’s squad (10), alongside Neto however, selling him would be a wise decision.

Wolves should replace Pablo Sarabia with Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson

Whilst Wolves may not get the silky Spaniard off their wage bill this summer, planning ahead is essential and they should look at signing Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson as a long-term replacement.

As reported by the Athletic, a number of Premier League clubs – including Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Fulham and West Ham – have joined the race to sign him.

This comes after the Englishman expressed his desire to leave the Emirates Stadium, 16 years after joining at the age of nine.

Wolves – who are currently looking for a winger to improve their attack – should put themselves in the picture to sign the 24-year-old, who commands a fee of £20 million.

Nelson has seen his game time restricted at Arsenal due to their quality in wide areas. He has the unenviable task of dislodging Buyako Saka on the right or the likes of Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli, and that has proven difficult.

However, on his day manager Mikel Arteta has described him as ‘special’, with Gunners legend Ian Wright lauding his talent as ‘unbelievable’.

Nelson operates on the right of a front three – a similar position to Sarabia – but unlike the Spaniard, he possesses the pace, trickery and skill to beat his marker in one-on-ones.

In a counter-attacking side like Wolves, the Englishman could flourish in transition, with O’Neil showing he can unlock the best out of his current squad.
