Estoril manager Vasco Seabra has explained what Wolves fans can expect from their latest signing Rodrigo Gomes.
Wolves announced their second signing of the summer on Wednesday night as Gomes joined the club from Braga. It is believed that the versatile winger cost Gary O’Neil’s side around £12.7 million.
It is a positive sign from the club after a controversial past few weeks that included rising tensions over season ticket prices.
One big fault of the club in recent years has been their inability to bring in signings before the start of pre-season which would allow the manager more time to prepare for the new season.
However, this seems to have now changed as Gomes has followed Tommy Doyle through the door.
On top of this, the 20-year-old looks an extremely exciting talent with his former manager Seabra heaping praise on the winger earlier this month.
Wolves signing Rodrigo Gomes is ‘always willing to learn’
Despite signing from Braga, Gomes spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan to Estoril. The fellow Portuguese first-tier side had a solid season and reached the final of the League Cup.
Gomes was pivotal to this success as he took the division by storm which eventually led to his move to Wolves.
In early June, the Estroril manager, Seabra, sat down with Relevo to discuss the Gomes and why he has attracted so much interest this summer.
He said: “Rodrigo has had an incredible season (eight goals and nine assists) and all the commitment he has is tremendous. He is a very humble boy, he has a big heart and is a very good teammate.
“Despite being young, he is very intelligent and competitive. Every exercise in training is like the last one in his life, it seems like the Champions League final for him.
“He is very easy to work with, he is open to learning, to changing, to improving. I think he has a lot of potential because he has many desire and willingness to learn. He is never satisfied with what he has done.”

While every signing is always exciting, fans should pay close attention to Gomes’ rise. The versatile winger has bundles of potential and this was on full show last season.
Now, he has to showcase this raw talent in the Premier League. Wolves have helped develop plenty of players with similar characteristics before.
With there already being an abundance of Portuguese players in the squad, Gomes will have the opportunity to learn from his new peers and hopefully settle in quickly.
It may take time for the 20-year-old to truly show his ability, but with patience, Gomes could easily become one of the best players at the club.
