Alternative pop icon Billie Eilish‘s meteoric rise to fame has been hard to escape over the last few years, and the 22-year-old has been enjoying yet another spell of success in recent weeks – following the release of her latest album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. In an engaging piece of promo for Interview Magazine, Billie sat down with fellow superstar Lana Del Rey recently to discuss her third full-length release, in what made for a fascinating conversation about how to deal with your relationships while surviving as an artist in the public eye.

Billie Eilish shares breakup wisdom in interview with Lana Del Ray

Among the many nuggets of wisdom unleashed by Billie during the laidback conversation was an interesting insight into the fact that she claims to always be the one to do the breaking up when it comes to her relationships.

“I’m not going to get too in detail, because I’m going to be rude, but I’ve never been dumped,” Billie revealed. “I’ve never been broken up with. I’ve only done the breaking up.”

While people tend to feel sorry for the person who gets dumped, Billie contemplated to Lana that perhaps we look too harshly upon the people who do the dumping: “Now some of y’all about to be real mad at me, but I do believe that breaking up with someone versus being broken up with – obviously being broken up with hurts like hell, especially when you don’t see it coming and you wanted a future and it’s taken out of your hands.

“But honestly, the pain of knowing that you have to end something with somebody that you genuinely love is so horrible.”

“It stays with you longer”, mused Lana, much to Billie’s agreement. “I think so, too”, replied the Lunch singer.

“And you don’t get to even have the, like, ‘I got dumped, so f**k you guys. I get to go crazy and have a reaction and be mad at you. And I get to make you into an enemy, because you broke up with me.'”

“You can’t do that. You can’t become a victim.”

Lana and Billie share the love in wholesome chat

Between their engrossing exchanges about their music industry experiences, Billie and Lana made sure to make their love for one another known.

While Lana was keen to get the conversation underway, Billie held up proceedings to tell the accomplished songstress: “Well first of all, thank you for taking the time to listen to it at all and agreeing to do this interview.

“You know how much I love you and how much talking to you means to me. I’m just happy that I get to see your face.”

Towards the end of the chat, Lana made sure to return the compliment, telling her industry bestie: “I love this album. I’m very stoked for you. And also, I love the title, and the titles for all of your songs”, before adding “You’re the bomb.”

The promo for the interview went down well on Billie’s Instagram, where fans and a host of famous faces couldn’t get enough of her blue eyeliner:
