Euro 2024 officially kicked off on Friday night as hosts Germany faced Scotland in the first of 51 games that will be played during this summer’s tournament.

The European Championships take it to another gear on Saturday as the first day of three consecutive matches begins.

Group A will have every team on one game played by the end of the day, while Group B also gets underway with two fixtures in store.

Team news

Switzerland have mixed team news heading into the tie as they welcomed back Breel Embolo and Denis Zakaria to training.

However, winger Steven Zuber is a doubt after picking up a calf issue in the nation’s recent friendly match with Austria.

Hungary have one doubt on their hands as Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai suffered a slight hamstring concern in a friendly against Israel, though there is hope that he will be involved against Switzerland.

Italy could be without midfielder Nicolo Barella as the Inter Milan star missed both pre-tournament friendlies and only recently returned to training.

It means the 27-year-old faces a race to fitness, while Nicolo Fagioli is expected to miss out after picking up a muscle problem against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Albania have no injury concerns as they prepare to take on the defending European Champions.
