Report: Fabrizio Romano reveals Forest are set to make transfer move tomorrow after positive talks

Fabrizio Romano has issued an update on who may now become Nottingham Forest’s first signing of the summer.

The transfer window is now officially open and Nuno Espirito Santo will be looking to see Evangelos Marinakis bolster his squad over the coming months.

Forest‘s 2023/24 campaign was one to forget having narrowly avoided the drop, but there have to be some positives taken from some of the individual displays over the season.

Players like Morgan Gibbs-White, Murillo and Callum Hudson-Odoi have shown that Forest do have the quality needed the be finishing much higher than they did last term.

Perhaps it is a case of just improving the quality around those type of players and that is exactly what Forest are looking to do this summer.

And it seems Romano understands Forest are now set to make a big step towards securing their first signing of the summer.

Fabrizio Romano says Forest are nearing first summer signing

It is going to be a month of departures at the City Ground with Forest in need of selling some players to comply with the strict PSR rules this month.

Forest are one of the Premier League clubs who find themselves at risk of punishment if they do not meet the deadline on 30 June.

Several players are already emerging as possible sales this month with the likes of Matt Turner receiving interest from the MLS.

But it will not just be about exits this summer with Forest also reportedly keen on bringing in Scotland international Che Adams.

But according to Fabrizio Romano, Forest are now ready to trigger the release clause in Carlos Miguel’s Corinthians contract.

Talks are well underway with the player’s camp and Forest are expected to trigger the clause following Corinthians’ game against Sao Paulo on Sunday.

Although Forest are said to be cautious until a deal is secured in black and white, the deal would cost the Reds €4m (£3.3m).

Here We Go soon?

It is the three words all football fans want to hear from Romano in the transfer window and it seems his famous ‘Here We Go’ may well be coming soon.

Corinthians play Sao Paulo at 8pm (UK time) on Sunday night and it is expected Forest will make their move following the game.

Between the sticks has been a position of great concern for Nuno having struggled to find the goalkeeper he wants to be his number one.

However, bringing Miguel in would mark a solid start to the summer transfer window with Forest adding a clear position of need for a relatively low fee.
