Big twist as elite striker makes official statement following £24 million West Ham bid

West Ham United made a bid for an extremely talented striker earlier this month, and now he’s switched agents.

New West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui definitely needs to sign a new striker this summer, if he is to take the club on to another level.

It is said that one of the Spaniard’s two main priorities now is to bolster his centre-forward ranks at the London Stadium before the start of the new season, alongside signing a new centre-back.

Michail Antonio has been brilliant for us over the past nine years, but he’s well past his best now, there’s no doubting that.

Lopetegui usually likes to have a powerful centre-forward leading the line in his system – someone who can occupy opposing defenders and work tirelessly for the team.

Antonio has performed that role admirably for West Ham, but a big upgrade on the Jamaica international is definitely required now.

There’s someone out there who’s perfect for us, albeit unproven in the Premier League. He’s an elite striker with many years left ahead of him with which to improve.

And there’s just been a very big twist indeed regarding the Hammers’ hopes of signing him…

Striker makes statement after agent switch following West Ham bid

Samu Omorodion is a firm transfer target for the Hammers this summer, and now there has been a big twist to our pursuit of the powerful front-man.

Fabrizio Romano took to his official X account last night to share a statement from Omorodion.

The Atletico Madrid striker said, “I want to share an important decision: since May 29, I’ve decided to part company with my agent due to different views. My career will now be in the hands of a person who’s close to my family. I’m excited for what’s coming next.”

The 20-year-old centre-forward was linked with a move to West Ham earlier this month, and the Hammers were said to have made a £24 million bid for the young striker.

However, it has been claimed that Atleti will be demanding in excess of £34 million for the giant centre-forward.

Whether the West Ham board will be willing to meet those demands remains to be seen.

Will Omorodion’s change of agents impact the potential deal? Again, only time will tell regarding that.
