Report: West Ham must raise bid by another £10m to secure yet another Brazilian attacker signing

A big twist has emerged in West Ham United’s pursuit of Corinthians youngster Wesley Gassova it seems.

Wesley Gassova has been on the West Ham radar over the past month or so now, and Corinthians president Augusto Melo recently suggested that if the teenager leaves, he’ll be the biggest sale in the club’s history.

The Hammers are said to be in pole position to sign Wesley this summer, with Julen Lopetegui in desperate need of a new left winger.

Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals left the London Stadium back in January, and neither of them were replaced.

Lopetegui has already strengthened his attacking ranks this summer, with the signing of Luis Guilhereme from Palmeiras.

And now another Brazilian teenager could be en route to the London Stadium in the form of Corinthians starlet Wesley.

However, there is one specific problem that could end up impacting the deal…

Wesley Gassova to West Ham twist emerges

Things won’t be straightforward at all, if the Hammers are to sign the Brazilian winger in the summer transfer window.

According to Goal Brazil, West Ham are likely to make a new bid for Wesley – one that will exceed £17 million – but Corinthians still demanding at least £25 million.

This comes after it was alleged that the Hammers made a £15 million bid for the talented teenage attacker earlier this month.

It is believed that the two clubs will find some common ground and reach an agreement in the summer transfer wndow.

However, there’s a big problem. Corinthians are not willing to release Wesley Gassova to West Ham until January – when the Brazilians season has ended.

That twist will surely make a deal more complicated.

Signing the Brazilian youngster would make a lot of sense. He’s a right-footed left winger – the kind of player the Hammers are crying out for right now.

The young left winger has bagged seven goals and five assists in 67 senior appearances for Corinthians.

He is extremely talented, has pace and skill in abundance, and would be a sensational addition for West Ham.

Whether the Hammers are prepared to wait until January to get their man remains to be seen though.
