Report: 23-year-old is now certain to join West Ham in £17 million deal this summer

A really exciting West Ham United transfer update has just emerged out in Italy this morning.

West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui has kicked off his rein at the London Stadium in style, with the signing of Brazilian starlet Luis Guilhereme.

The Hammers manager is believed to be closing in on deals for Wes Foderingham and Vitoria de Guimaraes winger Jota Silva as well.

Lopetegui will surely now be prioritising the additions of a centre-forward and a central defender.

Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd need upgrading urgently, whilst the same can be said for West Ham striker Michail Antonio.

It won’t be easy for Lopetegui to make big improvements on what David Moyes achieved in charge of the Hammers, but he will do his chances no harm at all by making some top quality signings early on in the window.

Tim Steidten and Lopetegui are clearly on the hunt for reinforcements, and both seem to be intent on bolstering the Hammers squad before the season starts.

Now it looks like West Ham are closing in on yet another new signing…

West Ham transfer update with 23-year-old certain to join

The football transfer rumour mill is a funny old thing isn’t it.

Nothing is ever certain in football, and nowadays journalists are constantly trying to be first to break every single transfer.

Whilst nothing is done until the player in question is pictured in the new club’s kit, the Italian media have gone all in on one specific transfer story.

The Italians are known for jumping the gun at times, but this one seems like it could have some real legs.

It is claimed by Gazzetta dello Sport that Nehuen Perez joining West Ham in a £17 million deal in the summer transfer window is ‘concrete’.

The 23-year-old Udinese defender is apparently keen to link up with Lopetegui at the London Stadium.

In 36 Serie A appearances for Udinese last season, Perez averaged two tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 4.3 clearances and 2.3 successful aerial duels per game. He made 40.8 passes per match and recorded a completion rate of 80.3% (Who Scored).

Perez is a tough-tackling, aggressive central defender, and is perfectly suited to the robust nature of Premier League football.

I think he’d be a great signing for West Ham, so the latest transfer update out in Italy is very good news indeed for us.
