Pep Lijnders wants to take ‘terrific’ Liverpool player with him to RB Salzburg

Liverpool are currently preparing themselves for a summer of major transition ahead of the upcoming season.

The biggest change has, of course, taken place in the Anfield dugout, with Jurgen Klopp leaving Merseyside.

But he certainly wasn’t the only coach to depart, with his trusted sidekick Pep Lijnders also moving on at the end of the season.

And unlike Klopp, who is expected to take a break from the game, the Dutchman has agreed to become the new manager of RB Salzburg.

It will be a familiar feeling in the dugout in Austria, with fitness coach Andreas Kornamyer set to join Lijnders, with Vitor Matos having already been confirmed as his assistant.

Pep Lijnders wants Vitezslav Jaros at RB Salzburg

And the new RB Salzburg could continue his Anfield raid this summer by turning to some of his former players that he worked with during his lengthy spell at the Reds.

Lijnders has already been told that his chances of a move for young star Conor Bradley are slim, but another potential deal for a fellow academy graduate has now emerged.

According to Salzburger Nachrichten, the new RB Salzburg manager now wants to bring Vitezslav Jaros with him to Austria.

The ‘terrific’ goalkeeper is yet to appear for Liverpool, having been loaned out four times after progressing from the club’s youth academy.

The 22-year-old has temporary lined out for St Patrick’s Athletic, Notts County, Stockport County and Sturm Graz in his brief professional career so far, with another move now on the cards.

Will Arne Slot give Vitezslav Jaros a chance at Liverpool?

The goalkeeper’s most recent loan move was undoubtedly his most successful, with the youngster clincing an Austrian league and cup double with Sturm Graz.

That has undoubtedly caught the attention of Lijnders, although the coach will, of course, already know the player’s ability well from their time together at Anfield.

Up first for Jaros, however, is the small matter of Euro 2024, with the shot-stopper impressing so much lately that he has been called up by the Czech Republic for the major tournament.

Lijnders and indeed many other managers may just be keeping an eye on the young goalkeeper in Germany, particularly now that the transfer window is underway.

But new Liverpool boss Arne Slot may just have his own plans for Jaros, especially with the futures of Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian uncertain.
