Report: Arsenal are now pushing hard to sign 'the most lethal striker in Europe' this summer

Arsenal are pushing hard to sign ‘the most lethal striker in Europe’ this summer transfer window, according to a recent report.

The North Londoners came up two points short of title-winners Manchester City last term and now the onus will be to go one better next year.

To do that, they’ll need a prolific number nine as that’s been an area they’ve lacked in over the last few seasons.

That said, the club are now pushing to sign a striker on the continent.

Arsenal pushing to sign Serhou Guirassy

According to German publication Bild, Arsenal are one of the clubs pushing hard to sign Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a phenomenal season for the Bundesliga outfit last term, netting 28 league goals in as many appearances, helping his side to a runners-up finish behind Bayer Leverkusen.

Remarkably, Guirassy has a £17m release clause in his contract which is set to attract a number of suitors this summer.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan have all been named as potential destinations for ‘the most lethal striker in Europe’.

Serhou Guirassy statistics

According to FBref statistics, Guirassy is of a similar profile to Dusan Vlahovic, who has been an Arsenal target in previous windows gone by.

The Guinea international ranks in the top 11 per cent for shot-creating actions per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe, evincing his terrific all-round game.

Further, he sits in the top five per cent for pass completion, amplifying how proficient he is in possession of the ball and at linking the play.

If Arsenal do land his signature this summer, he’d be a shrewd acquisition.
