'My only worry': Bradley Wright-Phillips shares Inter Miami concern after 2-1 Philadelphia Union win

Bradley Wright-Phillips has shared one concern with Inter Miami after the Herons’ dramatic 2-1 win last night against the Philadelphia Union.

The Florida franchise had to leave it until the final moments of the game with nine players on the pitch to secure the three points, with Leo Afonso the hero on the night as Julian Gressel also found his way onto the scoresheet for Inter Miami.

With no Lionel Messi or Luis Suarez, it was a big win for Inter Miami, with Gressel highlighting after the match how important the role the substitutes played in getting the 2-1 win last night.

Yet MLS legend Wright-Phillips has highlighted one problem Inter Miami seemingly now have.

Inter Miami over-reliance on ‘special moments’ to win matches

Speaking on MLS Wrap-Up, Wright-Phillips noted how Inter Miami struggle to win matches going about in a normal manner, with the Herons last night needing something special to claim the victory against Philadelphia.

Messi and Suarez have bailed Inter Miami out countless times this season, a factor that has helped push the Chase Stadium side to the top of the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings.

Yet for the New York Red Bulls legend, Inter Miami have to share some consistency if they’re to really push on for the playoffs, even with the Herons still the favorites for MLS Cup.

Wright-Phillips said: “My only worry with Miami is that it’s always a special moment to get the win, it can never just be a plain, simple win, it has to take some magic from Messi or Suarez or even a play like this. I’d like to see a bit more consistency in the performances.”

Herons must learn to win the ‘normal’ way

From last-second winners to moments of magic from Messi, Inter Miami are not the most conventional side when it comes to getting wins in MLS this season.

The Florida franchise are pure entertainment and are doing so in a manner that has put Inter Miami in the driving seat for MLS Cup and the Supporters’ Shield at the halfway point of the season.

Yet learning to win comfortably is key for Inter Miami, who this year have only had a few easy wins where the defense was tight and the attack was free-scoring, an issue that must be resolved soon.
