Arne Slot simply has to watch 'incredible' £33.3m Liverpool target really closely during Euro 2024 - opinion

Arne Slot simply has to watch an ‘incredible’ £33.3m-rated Liverpool target really closely during Euro 2024.

Slot has taken the reigns at Anfield following Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of last season, ending a glittering eight-and-a-half-year spell at the club.

The onus will be on the Dutchman to position The Reds for a title challenge and to do that, he’ll have to be backed in the window to make his own imprint on the squad.

One rumoured target is plying his trade at Euro 2024 and Slot will be keeping a close eye.

Arne Slot should be keeping close eye on Jeremie Frimpong

Jeremie Frimpong has been a rumoured target of Liverpool in recent weeks and Slot could make a move for his compatriot this summer transfer window.

Frimpong, a Netherlands international, enjoyed a phenomenal season with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen last term, netting 14 times whilst laying on 12 assists.

The 23-year-old operated mainly as a right midfielder but can ply his trade as a conventional right-back, evincing his terrific versatility.

Remarkably, the former Celtic man has a £33.3m release clause in his contract, which is set to attract a number of suitors, especially if he has a good Euros.

Jeremie Frimpong could allow Trent Alexander-Arnold to move into midfield

Typically, since Trent Alexander-Arnold’s breakthrough, Liverpool have never really been linked to any right backs, other than to play a deputy role to the England international.

So it’s quite interesting to see Frimpong mooted with a move to Anfield and perhaps that indicates Slot views Alexander-Arnold as a midfielder.

The 25-year-old is expected to play in that role for Gareth Southgate’s side, so perhaps next season he could be reinvented as a number eight.
