Fenland drivers in the thick of the action at Brook’s Bilge Bonanza in King’s Lynn

Fenland drivers had a good night at Brook’s Bilge Bonanza at Lynn last weekend – a special night celebrating the 30-plus years of racing from Stu Brooks.

Drivers used cars which would be regarded as uncompetitive in modern-day national bangers.

One of the performances of the meeting – if not certainly the performance of the day in the 2L bangers came from Brad Bartram.

51 James Licquorice was once again in tremendous form in the National Bangers. Picture Kim McPherson.

Bartram started things off with victory in the meeting final which was the first race of the day in his class.

He then proceeded to pull off a superb follow-in in the first all-comers on Kavan Barton to win an entertainer award as he came home in fifth place.

Olly Betts was also in the thick of the action as he swapped three wheels for four and placed in ninth spot in the final before ending up on the top of Brad Wright following a big hit from the latter to earn him an entertainer award.

Whilst Brad was dishing out the hits in the first all-comers brother Dan raced on to a good win.

Nicky Young raced a stunning hearse in the 2L bangers and he took home a big wreck following the first race.

Jack Licquorice achieved the best finish in the 1600 bangers with a fifth in his heat.

Brother James and James Cable were also in the places throughout the evening.

Licquorice also continues to pile on the entertainer points as he picked up an entertainer award in both the races he competed in with.

Jack Maryon also being heavily involved in the action through the evening.

Local drivers also did well in the junior bangers with Archie Horwood and Levi Murkin in particular impressing.

Horwood kicked things off by winning the opening heat before Murkin took the chequered flag in both the second heat and the meeting final.

Archie Horwood had a brilliant night in the Junior Bangers.

Horwood followed Murkin across the line in the final for a good points haul and he was also placed in the second heat whilst Zane Douglas also had some top placings throughout the night including a fourth in the second heat.
