Celtic talisman Kyogo Furuhashi addresses future plans while visiting his former club

Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi is enjoying some downtime following another successful campaign at Parkhead under Brendan Rodgers.

Undoubtedly, he did need to acclimatise to a new way of working under the Irishman, but he ended the season with 19 goals and four assists in 50 appearances, helping the Bhoys to claim a domestic double [Transfermarkt].

Now enjoying the summer break, we told that Furuhashi had recently visited former club Gifu, reconnecting with his past and signalling his wish to stay abroad for as long as possible.

There have been subtle murmurs that Urawa Red Diamonds hold an interest in the Japan international; nevertheless, nothing has come to fruition on that front.

Continuing his homeland tour by visiting Vissel Kobe, the 29-year-old has shed some more light on his future plans.

Kyogo Furuhashi on his future plans

During his visit to Vissel Kobe, Furuhashi initially congratulated his old side for winning the J League title last term, stating [cited via The Daily Record]: “It’s late, but congratulations on winning last season.”

He then addressed his future plans, seemingly indicating that a move back to Japan wouldn’t be on the horizon any time soon, as he said: “I will continue to score goals in faraway places so that I can reach everyone’s eyes here, even if just a little.”

You get the impression Furuhashi is determined to stay in Europe for a few years to come, where he has thrived at Parkhead due to his elite movement and striking potency.

Admittedly, last campaign wasn’t his most prolific; however, decisive strikes such as his two goals against Rangers at Ibrox and Parkhead further cemented his status as a talismanic figure for Celtic, and hopefully, he can continue to deliver in green and white come 2024/25.

Right now, it is unclear who will be competing with the Nara-born man for his slot in the forward line; however, make no mistake, Furuhashi is always someone who will rise to the challenge.
