‘Have you seen?’ International teammate in awe of £240,000-a-week Liverpool player

Brian Brobbey has made a revelation about Liverpool and Netherlands international central defender Virgil van Dijk that could shock the Anfield faithful.

Van Dijk has been a key player for Liverpool over the years and was hugely instrumental in how the team developed and succeeded under Jurgen Klopp.

The 32-year-old Netherlands international has helped the Reds win the Premier League, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup (twice) and the UEFA Champions League in recent years.

Van Dijk, who has impressed Tottenham Hotspur forward Dejan Kulusevski, is now playing for the Netherlands at UEFA Euro 2024 and is aiming to lead his country to glory.

Brian Brobbey is also part of the Netherlands squad, and the 22-year-old striker is shocked by how much Van Dijk eats.

The Ajax star has said that Van Dijk is the biggest eater in the Netherlands squad.

Brobbey told The Sunday Mirror (print edition, page 72, June 16, 2024): “When it comes to the biggest eater in our squad, I go straight for Virgil.

“If you see how he piles the food on the plate! He starts with an absolute mountain of salad.

“I also scoop my plate well full, because we train hard and need nutrients.

“Then again, have you seen what Virgil looks like? You don’t get tall and strong overnight. Virgil is a boss.”

Liverpool have to keep Virgil van Dijk

Van Dijk is one of the best central defenders in the world and was back to his best for Liverpool last season. Arsenal star William Saliba rates Van Dijk highly.

Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr are interested in signing the Netherlands international centre-back in the summer transfer window, but, as HITC reported last week, Liverpool are confident of keeping Van Dijk.

Liverpool want to hand the £240,000-a-week defender a new contract.

Al-Nassr could make a very big offer, both to Liverpool and to Van Dijk, but the Merseyside club should resist it.

With a new manager, Arne Slot, coming in, Liverpool owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), have to make sure that the club keep hold of all of their best players, and that includes Van Dijk.

Liverpool’s aim next season has to be to beat Arsenal and Manchester City to the Premier League title, and for that quest, they need to keep Van Dijk.
