UPDATE: The man was taken into custody, police announced at about 8:40 a.m. The shelter in place has been lifted.
An armed man barricaded in a house in Evesham is firing the weapons, though no one has been struck by gunfire, authorities said.
A large law enforcement presence is outside the home on Brookfield Drive, Evesham police Chief Walt Miller said at about 5:10 a.m.
Sections of Kettle Run Road and Hopewell Road are closed with school buses detoured, Miller said.
“Our goal is to resolve this situation safely,” the chief said in a statement on social media.
More information is expected to be released later Monday.
