'Disappointing': Nottingham Forest gem was really upset with something he was asked to do on loan

Nottingham Forest allowed a number of players to go out on loan last season with one of them the highly-rated Dale Taylor.

The striker currently playing frequently for the Northern Ireland national team was sent to Wycombe for the 2023/24 campaign.

It proved a pretty successful season for Taylor, with the youngster scoring in the Bristol Street Motors Final at Wembley.

As the dust settles on his latest loan spell, Taylor has opened up on one thing that he found pretty disappointing about his latest foray away fromForest.

Dale Taylor shares frustration about leaving Nottingham Forest on loan

Well, it’s quite intriguing to hear that Taylor had a little gripe about something that happened at Wycombe.

Although the 20-year-old got plenty of games under his belt, he was often played out of position.

Taylor scored nine times during his latest spell away from Forest and in League One that represents a good season.

Matt Bloomfield chose to utilise him in an unnatural way and that didn’t really satisfy Taylor during his time at Adams Park.

He told the Belfast Telegraph: “In terms of the football side of things, I really enjoyed it. I played a bit deeper, a number eight or 10 which I had never played before.

“That was a bit disappointing because I’m a number nine and want to play as a number nine.

“But overall, I thought the season went really well.”

Forest must make call on Taylor for next season

If Forest have to cut their cloth accordingly this summer, Taylor might get a chance to shine in pre-season.

At 20-years-old the player still has time on his side and perhaps Nuno Espirito Santo will take a closer look at him.

Taylor will want to be playing football and if he does go out on loan Forest have to avoid the mistake they made last year.

Forest should seek assurances if he heads out again that Taylor will get plenty of football in the position he enjoys the most.

As a youngster, it’s hard to adapt to men’s football and the last thing the Northern Irishman needs is to be pushed into a number of different roles.

It’s quite intriguing to hear Taylor say that he was disappointed he didn’t play much as a number nine and hopefully, next season that can change.
