Ukrainian Football Association pays emotional tribute to military fans – Video

“Before the first match at the Euro, we would like to thank all the fans who are defending Ukraine today,” the statement read

“We can play today thanks to you! Glory to Ukraine!”

Hours before kickoff at Munich’s Allianz Arena, UFA president Andriy Shevchenko gave an emotional speech to Ukrainian fans and unveiled the remains of a stand from Kharkiv’s Sonyashnyi (Sunny) Stadium, which was damaged in a Russian missile attack in 2022. It was set up by Ukrainians in Munich to draw international attention to Russia’s war crimes.

The UEFA Euro 2024 Championship is held in Germany from June 14 to July 14.

Ukraine is competing in Group E with Romania, Slovakia, and Belgium.
