Former Oklahoma State wrestler Nick Piccininni earned another win in his professional mixed martial arts career Sunday.

Fighting at Fury 92, Piccininni won via rear naked choke in the fourth round, beating Jomar Pa-ac. The former Cowboy is now 5-0 in his career.

The end of the fight can be seen below.

Piccininni has four finishes in his five wins since June 18, 2021. All four finishes were by submission at the flyweight division (125 pounds).

While at Oklahoma State from 2015-20, Piccininni was a three-time All-American (2017, ’19 and ’20). He finished four at 125 pounds in 2017, 5th in 2019 and was a coaches All-American in 2020 amid the canceled NCAA Tournament.

Piccininni was 98-17 in his career at Oklahoma State and made a great transition to MMA. After fighting three times with Xtreme Fight Night, Piccininni made the move to Fury FC.

It remains to be seen what’s next in terms of a title shot with the promotion and eventual signing with one of the big organizations, such as the UFC.

Nick Piccininni continues great Oklahoma State, MMA trend

Of course, Oklahoma State produced UFC champions Daniel Cormier and Johnny Hendricks to start. Piccininni is the latest in rising MMA prospects to come from wrestling.

Fellow Cowboy Jacobe Smith is slated to fight on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Smith is 8-0 as a pro MMA fighter and will now get an opportunity in front of the UFC president. Should he win his fight on DWCS, he could possibly be awarded a contract.

Each Contender Series card has five fights and the new season begins August 8t and runs through October 10th.

Smith wrestled at Northeastern Oklahoma for two seasons before transferring to Oklahoma State ahead of the 2016-17 season. He went 49-13 in three years, becoming an All-American (8th place at 174 pounds) in 2018.

Smith finished in the Round of 16 at the 2019 tournament. But like his former teammate, he’ll continue to strive for the top of MMA.
